Mrs. Teresa Ann Monford is the proud wife of Dr. B. LaMont Monford, Sr. as well as an active member of Philippian M. B. Church, where her husband is the pastor. Mrs. Monford also known as Tesa, Sister Monford or Sis. Pastor, is a first-class 1st Lady. She is a shining example and inspiration to all ages. Sis. Monford is a wife, mother, secretary, nurse-just a few of the hats she wears in her many roles.
Sis. Monford was born May 1, 1967 in Lima, Ohio to Louis Humphries Sr. and the late Joann Humphries. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior at the age of ten at Philippian M. B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J. E. Latson. She attended Lima City Schools and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1985. A 1995 graduate of Lima Technical College, Sis. Monford is a Registered Nurse and serves as nurse for the Allen County Children Services. She also serves as the pastoral assistant at the church. In 2014 Sister Tesa followed her passion and received her certification as a personal training from the ISSA (International Sports Science Association)
Pastor and Sis. Monford started dating in High School when she was 15 and he was 16. Their initial interaction happened during a MCM Drama play where she played a nurse and Dr. Monford portrayed a pastor. They were married on September 3, 1988, and have four beautiful clones (children): Brian Jr., Brandon, Brianna, and Brandi.
For Sis. Monford, being a Pastor’s wife is something that she looks at as her own personal ministry in being able to help members mature in their faith. She has also been privileged to speak to women’s group at churches within the city & state.
Even though Sister Monford is kept very busy in her many roles, she still finds time to pursue and enjoy some of her other interests. She enjoys gospel music, jazz, weight lifting, physical fitness, and reading. Being a mother is what she enjoys the most because she’s able to influence and play a direct role in the shaping and molding of her children’s’ lives.
Because she grew up in Philippian Church, many of the members have known Sis. Monford since she was a baby. Sis. Monford loves the fact that her church family feels like biological family. She is thankful and appreciative to the Philippian Church Family for showing their love all year long-not just on special occasions.
